Thinking about thoughts
As I see things, there are two kinds of thoughts.
Small thoughts and big thoughts, or you could say limited thoughts and expansive thoughts.
Thoughts that come to us as a product of well entrenched opinions, beliefs and fears, paired with feelings that feel unpleasant.
And thoughts that come to us bound up in feelings of opportunity, comfort, kindness, blue skies and possibility.
Most of us humans pay a lot of attention to our thoughts.
Most of the time our thoughts are so compelling we believe them without question.
I have a suggestion for you if you’d like to know which thoughts to entertain.
Pay greater attention to the feelings that accompany them.
if your thoughts (no matter what those thoughts are) are paired with unpleasant feelings - feelings that make you feel constricted, tight, troubled, uncomfortable, angry - observe them and let them pass
if your thoughts are paired with pleasant feelings - even though those thoughts may seem illogical or unexpected - pursue them with curiosity
Feelings are information from your inner guidance (or as I like to say from life), to go this way or that way. Unpleasant feelings never lead to pleasant outcomes. When you begin to recognise the feelings that partner your thoughts you’ll start to crack the code of which thoughts are worth your time.
That’s it.
Let me know how you go…
Happy trails,
